Andretti 1-2 in Practice 1

Will Power and Kyle Kirkwood took the top two spots in Practice 1 for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio this afternoon. Points Alex Palou finished third.

Arrow McLaren had a good day also, with Christian Lundgaard fourth, Pato O’Ward fifth, and Nolan Siegel seventh.

Rinus VeeKay posted the sixth best time.

The hot humid weather made conditions difficult for both drivers and crew members.

Kirkwood only needed 14 laps to set the second fastest lap. Andretti teammate Marcus Ericsson was eighth quickest in the session.

Practice stopped twice for red flags. In the 40-minute segment Marcus Armstrong slid oof track and in tot he tire barrier, damaging the left front suspension. In the second group practice Romain Grosjean spun in turn 9 and could not get the car refired.
